David Goundry Reimagines Lucy With Analog Glow and Psychedelic Warmth

At the end of 2024, London-based singer/songwriter David Goundry delivered an album called Glazbury Road. An eight-track offering that was extremely well received and one I highly recommend; today, I want to shine a spotlight on the recently remixed version of its second track, Lucy

Engineered and produced by the legendary Nick Sykes (Average White Band), David's latest release leans into a very Beatlesy, vintage psychedelic sound. It's warm and intoxicating and laced with nostalgia - signalling something of a departure from the artist's previous work.

Joining David on the tune is Joanna Griggs, whose beautifully sensual and dreamlike vocals only add to the song's blurry mystique. Together, the pair have concocted a woozy and richly textured piece of music that feels like it’s drifting in slow motion, and you feel honoured to go along for the ride.

"The aim was to create a warm, retro, analog sound that also has a modern edge," mentions David, reflecting on the process behind the remix. In my humble opinion, he's done that and then some! It's a tune I'm finding myself constantly returning to, and if that's not a sign of a truly compelling song, I just don’t know what is! Pure magic!
