Miles Away Marks a Defining Moment for Indie-Pop Trio Patience Please
Miles Away is an EP I've been really looking forward to hearing, after recently falling in love with a little tune called Madelaine. Courtesy of London-based indie-pop trio Patience Please, the six-track debut record expertly balances high-energy anthems with the outfit's more intimate and vulnerable side. A collection of songs that showcases just who Patience Please are, Miles Away is proof of a band already very comfortable in its own sonic skin.
Wasting Time gets the EP rolling in a crunchy and slow-burning fashion that instantly sucks the listener in. Powerful and hugely inviting, it's the perfect start to proceedings, before the EP's title track comes into play. Upbeat, infectious, and seriously bouncy - it quickly becomes apparent why this is the tune that lends its name to the EP. There’s something undeniably defining about it.
Madelaine is a beautiful display of that aforementioned softer side to Patience Please's sound, while its successor, Pretend, kicks things back into high gear with soaring guitars and an anthemic urgency.
Miracle and I Want It I Got It complete Miles Away, and for these two, you're on your own. All I'll say is this…it's one of the most confident and assured debut records I've heard in some time, and I'm 100% confident we'll be hearing the name Patience Please a lot more going forward!
