Death is around the corner Is a Deep Immersion Into Aircraft’s Melodic Soundscape
Aircraft is the brainchild of Daniel Merkulov, a Ukrainian artist who began the project back in 2011. With seven studio albums, countless festival performances, and millions of Spotify streams to his name, it's fair to say that Daniel understands his way around the ins and outs of the music landscape.
Known for his distinctive fusion of electro, minimal wave, and post-punk textures, the melodic introspection of his work is pure and genuine - and wonderfully showcased on his latest LP, Death is around the corner.
A ten-track offering that confronts loss, tragedy, and despair, it's a record that also leaves room for hope, support, and love. A document of endurance, so to speak, it's shaped by war, displacement, and the fragility of contemporary life.
Someone's lie begins proceedings in an immersive, downtempo fashion, before making way for the eerie, pulsing, and highly intriguing sounds of Orphan.
On the edge then steps up to the plate with grace and ethereality. A dreamy little gem, it's a tune I'm finding myself constantly returning to - though I suppose the same is true of its successor, Idiot love.
The remaining six songs are equally as compelling as what's come before, so my suggestion is: dive in, immerse yourself, and discover the genius of Aircraft's art. Death is around the corner is an outstanding album from beginning to end!
