Dogmile Cuts Through the Noise on Brief Yet Indelible Debut EP Static Retracted
Just last month, I was singing the praises of an American artist who performs under the moniker Dogmile. I'd stumbled upon his artful and reverb-drenched single Alight and fell in love with the entrancing and nostalgia-laced tune. A track from his recently released debut EP, Static Retracted, little did I know that Alight was just the beginning. Diving headfirst into Dogmile's short four-track offering, I discovered a musician with a distinct knack for crafting hazy and immersive soundscapes. And today, I am honoured to share his genius with you.
The intricately pieced together Orbit gets the EP underway, and, clocking in at just over a minute and a half, feels less like a song and more like a quiet invitation into Dogmile's sonic domain.
Orbit is then followed by Alight, a tune that doesn't need a second introduction. All I'll say is that it's staking a serious claim for my song of the year.
Fellup is another highly intriguing little number, before the somewhat unexpectedly raw and gritty Well's Run Dry brings Static Retracted to a close. In under nine minutes, Dogmile has proved that depth doesn’t demand long run times, and I can't wait to hear what he gets up to next!
