Tellus: Nate Todd’s Conceptual Trilogy Reaches Its Eclectic Zenith
Tellus is a journey. It's the completion of a trilogy of concept albums, a decade in the making, all from the creative mind of Colorado-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nate Todd. Describing the record as "a trip through the solar system where the dark side of human nature prevails," Tellus is packed with allegorical nods to society's bullshit, and the all-too-human systems that perpetuate it.
High on the Moon kicks things off in hypnotic fashion. Synthy, punchy, and eclectic, it's a flawless start to proceedings. Interplanetary Voyage then steps up to the plate, an instrumental offering that continues the high-energy and bouncy vibes of its predecessor.
Venusian Gardens has a mysterious, almost dark undertone, and sets the stage for the album's title track to make its introduction. Slowly entering the atmosphere, Tellus allows itself space to breathe and evolve. Beautifully textured and immersive, it's a tune Nate recounts as being "one of those incredible synchronicities that are so precious in art. Call it cosmic, call it magic, call it muse, something bigger was speaking through me."
The remainder of Tellus is just as fascinating and audacious as anything that’s come before it. Bold and boundary-pushing, it showcases an artist who's unafraid to explore, and the result is a truly exceptional and unique record that stands out from the crowd!
