From Bar Room Blues to Bold Instrumentals, Joe Hodgson Teases New Album

Gearing up for the release of his second solo album, Northern Ireland-based guitarist Joe Hodgson recently provided listeners with a sonic glimpse into what may be coming.

Let's just say…the excitement is palpable!

A double offering of epic proportions, first up is Since You Had A Hold On Me, a smokey bar room blues tune featuring the gritty vocals of Glen Harkin. Infused with an aching electric guitar, and leisurely moving at its own pace, it's a raw and poignant story of love gone bad.

Stick Or Twist then steps up to the plate, and instantly reminds me of AC/DC's classic, Back In Black. It's not long, however, before the instrumental piece of brilliance takes on a life of its own. Flirting with funk and soul territory, it's an edgy and hard-hitting track that wonderfully showcases Hodgson's love of experimenting with and blending genres. Fresh, inventive, and boldly in-your-face, it's an absolute gem from start to finish.

Both of these songs will form part of Joe's aforementioned upcoming record, Fields Of Redemption. Scheduled for release on June 20th, it's an album I simply cannot wait to hear!
