Genre-Blurring Genius Ignites Metagirl & the Earth Passengers’ New Single Fire It Up

Fire It Up is the scintillating new single courtesy of Brooklyn-based rock collective Metagirl & the Earth Passengers. A lively and inventive kaleidoscope of sounds, it's a tune that proudly refuses to be confined by genre - drawing freely from blues, jazz, funk, punk, and ska to create something that feels very much its own.

Hot on the heels of the outfit's punk-leaning debut single I Don't Care, Fire It Up showcases another side to the band's sonic arsenal. It almost feels like a natural progression from where I Don't Care left off - building on that same fearless energy, while also proving that the act has far more than one trick up its sleeve.

Recorded alongside multi-platinum Grammy winner Andros Rodriguez, Fire It Up channels the spirit of pioneers like The Specials and The English Beat. In fact, I don't think I could sum up the band's sound any better than its leader, Erica Rowell: "Think Buzzcocks meets The Specials with touches of R.E.M. and Kim Deal in the mix."

Metagirl & the Earth Passengers have been making noise since 2016. Exploring topics like life, love, art, and even quantum physics, they're now delivering their music to the masses - and I can't wait to hear what they conjure up next!
