Holly Woodlove Delivers Five Years' Worth of Sonic Experimentation on Expansive Album The Most Beautiful Lie

As the culmination of roughly five years of songwriting and recording, Holly Woodlove’s new album, The Most Beautiful Lie, is packed with bold ideas and fearless sonic experimentation. Refined across two cities and shaped by a period of personal transition, its creator, San Diego-based multi-instrumentalist Alexander Dausch, describes the record as "a kind of musical diary." Let's open it up then, shall we?

What a Fool opens proceedings with poise and grace. Gently blending shades of indie and classic rock, it's a warm and nostalgia-laced journey that beautifully sets the scene.

Keep the Lights On then steps up to the plate with a rich, groovy melody that you instantly sink into. Silky smooth and dripping with late-night soul, it's an absolute gem of a tune, before the album shifts gears with the rousing Run Back, a hook-laden blast of synthy pop-rock goodness.

Into Your Eyes brings the listener back down to earth, tapping into a hazy psych-rock charm reminiscent of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, while its successor, Clementine, delivers one of the most laidback and immersive tracks I've heard in some time.

An eighteen-track offering, The Most Beautiful Lie may appear daunting at first. But trust me, every second is worth it. Alexander Dausch is a true musician in every sense of the word, and I cannot wait to hear what he gets up to next!
