L'ESPIRAL's Cassiopeia Gets a Club-Ready Glow-Up on Cassiopeia: The Remixes
It's getting harder and harder to talk about the work of Zoë Bleu and Reggie Debris without sounding like a broken record of compliments. Based in Los Angeles and performing under the moniker L'ESPIRAL, the alternative pop duo are still relatively fresh on the scene.
And yet, somehow, they feel like old friends I’ve just remembered every time I hear their sound.
The pair's third single was a tune called Cassiopeia, released at the beginning of this year. A shimmering and intense piece of dark pop, Zoë and Reggie recently wondered what it would be like to let others remix its DNA. That's where Nuovo Testamento and Angelfire enter the fray.
First up is Nuovo Testamento's reworking, and the Los Angeles-based trio don't disappoint. Injecting a hypnotising house rhythm through Cassiopeia's veins, the seriously danceable remix is a nearly five-minute sonic adventure through repetitive loops and layered pulses that slowly draw you in.
Angelfire's take on things, on the other hand, is full-on and no-holds-barred. Think progressive trance meets electro house. Energetic and uncompromising, it grabs hold of you instantly, shakes you around, and then spins you through a kaleidoscope of high-tempo goodness.
As good as always, L'ESPIRAL simply never disappoint.
