Mike Masser’s New Album 5 Is a No-Holds-Barred Rock Reckoning

You're not wrong…we usually head into the weekend with something a touch more laidback on the ears. That said, I feel like every now and then, it's important to crank things up and kick off the weekend with fire and intensity. And that's where Mike Masser's brand new album comes into play.

Returning after a four-year hiatus, the Arizona-based rocker just unleashed his fifth record, aptly titled 5. A ten-track offering of heavy riffs, bone-crushing drum work, and the raw, unapologetic vocals of Masser, it's a truly powerful collection of songs. Sure, towards the end, Mike shows us his more contemplative side - but on the whole, it's a potent blend of explosive hard rock.

The opening trio of tunes, Wolves In The Whiskey, No Sin, and Silence Speaks, rip through your speakers with ferocity, before Masser throws in an unexpected and masterful cover of Genesis' Abacab

Other bands that influenced his musical journey are spotlighted too, as Mike provides his take on Golden Earring's Twilight Zone and Alice in Chains' Don't Follow

All in all, 5 feels more like a reckoning than a comeback. It's no-holds-barred in the best possible way, and I can't wait to hear from Mike Masser again!
