Red Light District Blues Reveals a Soul-Soaked and Bluesy Side of Nate Todd

Nate Todd is quickly proving himself to be something of a sonic chameleon - and I'm very much on board! Having discovered his boundary-pushing album Tellus at the end of last year, I was intrigued to hear what the Colorado-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist would conjure up next. And that's where Red Light District Blues comes into play - Nate's gritty, soul-soaked new single that I didn't see coming. Let's get into it.

Rooted in the traditions of Americana blues, Nate's latest offering leans into raw feeling and lived-in authenticity. Carrying the charm of a tune you'd most likely encounter in the corner of a smoke-filled and dimly lit bar, the swampy and heartfelt piece of music moves forward with a leisurely swagger. Textured, rich, and oh-so-beautifully weathered, Red Light District Blues is a late-night groove that lingers long after it's over.

Joined by his friend Kevin D’Angelo (Squeaky Feet) on drums, Nate showcases another side of his artistic versatility and prowess. Red Light District Blues is so different to anything on Tellus - but the genius is that Nate's essence as a songwriter doesn't shift one bit.

"Right now, I think most Americans are feeling the blues," says the musician. "Red Light District Blues is my own expression, but I think it will resonate with a lot of folks." I think so too! Superb!
