Old Songs, New Life: Gillan Edgar’s Lost & Found Album is a Decade-Old Treasure
An accomplished singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Gillan Edgar is a one-man band hailing from Manchester. Over a decade ago, the artist recorded a bunch of tunes that never saw the light of day. They were lost in the chaos of life, but have now been found and reborn, thanks to the ingenious work of their creator. Introducing Gillan's debut album: Lost & Found.
A twelve-track collection of foot-tapping and power-pop-inspired gems, Lost & Found finds inspiration in heavyweights like Elvis Costello, The Beatles, The Kinks, and Elliott Smith. There's a warm and homely sonic nature to the record, whether it's emanating from the twangy opener Mr Inconsistent or the instant earworm Victoria Has A Secret.
Recorded around various studios in Manchester and, basically, anywhere Gillan could find a quiet spot, Lost & Found feels like a true labour of love from the musician. Songs like Running Out Of Time and The Greatest Gift hit with truth and sincerity, and land with the weight of lived experiences.
This album has truly captured my heart. It's such a special little offering from such a hugely talented artist, and I can't wait to hear what Gillan Edgar has in store next!
