swim song Finds Wotts Making Another Splash with His Synth-Soaked Psych-Pop

There's a point where an artist you've covered again and again stops feeling like just another artist you've discovered. Each new release suddenly feels like an event you can't wait to celebrate. That's exactly where I am with Wotts, a Canadian indie-pop project helmed by Jayem.

Since going solo, Jayem has maintained a steady stream of new material, including July's chewy, dreamy, and hypnotic little gem Surrender. Today, however, it's swim song that I am honoured to introduce you to. Let's dive in!

Turning to heavyweights like Tame Impala and Magdalena Bay for sonic inspiration, Wotts' latest single wastes no time plunging listeners into his hazy, synth-soaked world. A dreamy and immersive piece of electronic psych-pop, swim song's subtle changes in pace and intensity rise and recede like waves - an intentional touch from its creator.

"I wanted it to feel like you're already in the water before you realize how deep it is," explains Jayem. "There's a beauty to that, but also a kind of quiet panic. You're in it now; you can't just turn around."

I mentioned it with Surrender, and I'll do so again here: swim song marks another seriously exciting chapter in Wotts' ongoing musical evolution. The warmth, the soul, the honesty…it's all there! Wotts does it again, and this customer couldn't be happier!
