Time Is What I’m Wasting Showcases a Softer and More Expansive Facet of Highet

Nikolas and Thomas Erl are an up-and-coming father-son duo from Vancouver, and they've just released an extraordinary new single titled Time is What I'm Wasting. Performing under the moniker Highet, the pair's latest release is a soothing and highly immersive one. It allows itself space to breathe and expand, and presents a very different vibe to Your Eyes Don't See, its energetic and gritty predecessor.

Described by the duo as a "chill, easy-going ballad that explores the theme of patiently waiting for a meaningful connection," Time is What I'm Wasting hits with a serious emotional resonance. Built around a trance-like rhythm and rich layers of guitar, it sucks you into its gentle and serene undertow - and for six and a half minutes, you're taken to a place of calm and stillness.

With a love for outfits like Dire Straits, The Church, and Crowded House, Highet take pride in crafting music that’s 100% original and entirely free of AI. It's an approach that has to be admired in today's times, and one that, to be honest, I'll always gravitate towards first.

From the Dylans to the McCartneys, there's a long tradition of father-son duos who've carved their place in music history. Something tells me that Nikolas and Thomas Erl could one day find themselves in that conversation.
