Ula Shapes Her Own Sound on Cinematic and Genre-Blending Debut EP Boysulk

Drawing inspiration from artists like St. Vincent, Allie X, and Aurora, up-and-coming London-based artist Ula recently delivered her genre-blending debut EP titled Boysulk. A bold five-track offering of intent, Boysulk showcases Ula's evolution from musician to engineer and producer - a progression that makes her the architect of her own sound. And, boy, does she wield that power with precision. Let's jump in!

Corridors sets the scene in dramatic fashion, a haunting and eerie piece of music that sucks you into Ula's intriguing soundscape. Once you're fully immersed, Ula then launches the listener into So Kind, a spacious, upbeat, and cinematic tune that really needs to be experienced to be fully understood.

In My Eyes is the EP's third song, and it's at this point that you realise just how talented a vocalist Ula is. Don't get me wrong, there were definitely glimpses earlier, but now it crystallises, and reveals a depth I hadn't fully appreciated before.

Danger is Ula's most recent single, a bouncy and avant-garde track that continues to push the EP into unpredictable territories, before Best Day comes in to round things off. For this one, you're on your own. Linger along the shorelines, dip your toes, or dive straight in. The choice is yours. But, you know my recommendation!
