With Disillusionment, Alasdair James Dodds Unveils His Most Refined Masterpiece

Disillusionment is a subtle and hauntingly poignant piano piece composed by Alasdair James Dodds, an acclaimed British pianist and composer. Describing his latest release as his most "elegant, engaging, and beautiful," Alasdair has manufactured a pensive and hugely thought-provoking arrangement. It's intimate and rich, and takes you somewhere quiet and reflective - if only for a little over five minutes.

Featuring delicate timing changes, key velocities, and generous space to allow the track to expand and contract at its own pace, Disillusionment deals with that moment of realisation when one's faith erodes. "It reflects the journey of disillusionment we all face at times," says Alasdair. "The sense of disappointment that arises when we realise that something or someone is not as true, good, or valuable as we once believed."

A self-taught pianist by the age of eleven, Alasdair James Dodds could be considered something of a virtuoso, having developed his own "language" at the keys. Dyslexia prevented him from attending formal lessons, but arguably, it was that freedom that allowed his intuition to guide the way.

With thirteen singles to his name and numerous IMDb credits,  Alasdair James Dodds is very much the real deal. And, having briefly checked out the rest of his discography, I can safely say this won't be the last time I visit his sonic sanctuary.
